New Realm Brewing to Open Virginia Beach Brewery and Taproom
Southeast-based brewer leases former Green Flash facility
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (April 27, 2018) — New Realm Brewing, the Southeast-based craft brewery founded by Carey Falcone, Bob Powers and Mitch Steele, former brewmaster at Stone Brewing, will open a second brewery and taproom in Virginia Beach. New Realm has partnered with The Miller Group to lease the 58,000-square-foot facility, which formerly housed Green Flash Brewing Company. The announcement follows the recent purchase of the brewing equipment located at the Virginia Beach facility.
“We have had significant interest from brewing companies wishing to capitalize on this tremendous opportunity to open a turn-key brewery in Virginia Beach,” said Economic Development Director Warren D. Harris. “We welcome New Realm to our city and look forward to toasting their arrival very soon.”
Carey Falcone, CEO and co-founder of New Realm Brewing, said, “Virginia Beach is a vibrant and growing community that fits well with our culture. When the chance to expand in such a great location and facility without compromising our process or our values arose, we knew we needed to seize the opportunity. We look forward to becoming an active part of the Virginia Beach community for many years to come.”
New Realm will also be able to seize the many benefits of locating in Virginia Beach. In addition to an already captive beer community, the brewery is located four miles from the oceanfront that attracts 15.2 million visitors a year. Additionally, the city has been a hub for a growing craft beer cluster.
The Virginia Beach brewery and taproom, located at 1209 Craft Lane, will open once it receives all applicable licenses required for operation. The new brewery is capable of brewing 40,000 barrels annually and will feature a tasting room with a wide variety of beers on tap, an outdoor beer garden and private event room.
